oh my god. seriously, oh my god. today i had the best sandwich i've ever had in my life. and anyone who knows me realizes how much i dislike sandwiches. they have to be prepared a certain way in order for me to eat them. first of all, it has to be the freshest and softest bread around, or a croissant, or if i'm in the right mood, a bagel. then, it can't have any toppings such as mustard, mayo, salt or pepper - i like my 'wiches plain. weird, i know, considering i can't eat french fries without a dip of some sort. so if those two criteria are met, then the fillings have to be right - i'm not a big fan of deli meats, but i do like canned tuna :P
so about today's sandwich......it started out with a super-soft baguette.....so fresh, i almost squished my sandwich completely! then there was the smoked salmon......i'm not talking about 2 thin slices of salmon, i'm talking multi-layer slices of salmon, i was definitely going to need gum afterwards! then there was the cream cheese - YUM! as if cream cheese wasn't enough, i added brie - holy cow! and the piece de resistance, CAPERS! good lord, this was going to be a good sandwich!
when i finally sat down to eat my sandwich it was pure bliss. every single bite of sandwich covered all the major food groups - oh my god, holy cow, ooooohhhhh, and aaaaahhhhh! i don't think a meal has ever caused so much excitement before. next time i order it, i'm gonna make sure i have my camera on standby - i can't imagine anything better than this sandwich for lunch! i might have to try it on the olive sourdough next time :-)

wow, i'm almost the exact opposite of you. i like my sandwich toasted and crispy, with lots of aioli (garlic mayo). i don't like deli meat much either.
