some kind of phenomenon

so i've travelled on 12th avenue/grandview umpteen times. but i noticed over the past few years one interesting thing. in the summertime, around 4:30 p.m., a thousand (i'm not kidding) crows (i'm not sure, but they're definitely black) are flying from vancouver to burnaby. it's the strangest thing. i don't know where they're going, or how they know the time, but they're definitely converging somewhere.

so anyways, to the present......i went to costco on grandview (not my normal haunt, but it'll do), and when i returned to my car, some crow decided to crap all over my back window. so i checked my trunk before i loaded up my car, and then i looked around somemore, and there it was.....another poo splatter on my sunroof. i very quickly loaded my car, because there were still birds flying over me. so i drove home (it was 5:40 by the way - so they're a little later in the winter). i was by the highway, and it's totally freaky to look up and see nothing but black birds above you. i don't understand it. i hate birds. i just took my car through the car-wash last week, too :-P it's not like you can dodge the poo either.

anyways, onto my weird #2 item. last night after i got home from work, i was sitting on my poang chair watching tv, when i heard sirens coming from every direction. 3 firetrucks and one ambulance pulled up across the street. i'm not sure what happened, but they cleared out about 10 minutes later. obviously there wasn't much of an emergency. but it's good to know that they come out en mass, so if i ever need them, i can count on 911.

so, i had just come home from costco, and offloaded my car, and i just happened to look outside again. what's there? more firetrucks! the exact same time as yesterday, i'm not kidding you. again, no big emergency, because they arrived after i pulled into the driveway, and were leaving by the time if offloaded my goods. is it just weird in burnaby? i don't understand. well, i won't be able to watch tomorrow, since i have more shopping responsibilities. i'll check again on thursday.
