so from my chicken cordon bleu disaster, we all realized just how lazy i am. so last night i wanted a glass of water w/a twist of lemon. refreshing! so i poured the water, got my lemon out and grabbed a knife. where do you think i went wrong? yes, i am so lazy, that i decided to cut the lemon in the air, so i wouldn't mess the counter or require a cutting board. well, needless to say, i injured myself - i actually thought i might pass out from blood-loss (thumbs bleed a lot apparently). i cut the same lemon on tuesday night without injury so i didn't think twice about it. that required 2 fluorescent blue band-aids and triple action polysporin (i don't know if that stuff actually works, but in my mind it does).
so this morning as i'm leaving my building, i turned the locking mechanism on the door (there's no sensor that releases the door as you approach), and i've done this every day for the past 3 weeks without injury, but today something went wrong. i was busy trying to work my ipod and turn the handle at the same time, and i managed to bust open my index knuckle. luckily for me, i had already packed extra band-aids for my 1st injury so i wrapped up my knuckle and kept on going. today's band-aids are fluorescent yellow.
i think having the right band-aid can make all the difference in the world. those "flesh-tone" plastic band-aids have no give, so when you're hurt a joint and you're moving about, then it's not going to stay put. also, as soon as it gets wet, i find they just start to fall off. i used to like the cartoon band-aids, but since i have to come to an office everyday, it just doesn't quite say "business casual". so i opt for the 3M band-aids. they come in a variety of bright happy colours....pink, yellow, blue, and purple. if you peel if off for whatever reason, it will still stick to your skin again. crazy! and they made it through my morning shower! so even though my thumb is still throbbing and my index finger can't bend properly, i'm still in a decent mood. it's the band-aid i tell ya!

you think fluorescent bandaids are professional? ;)
poor tres, maybe i'll have to do a knife skills lesson before we start with the actual cooking. :P
seriously though, it helped me a ton when i learned how to do things properly. not that i don't injure myself still...it's just faster.
oh tres....=) I'll assume that you're still ok to hold a pair of chopsticks to eat at sushi garden tonight?
i think the fluorescent yellow compliments my red top quite nicely :)
darn it, i might have to use my fingers tonight! i'll see how my finger has healed by then. crap!
Oh ... I'm so squeamish about this sort of thing that I can't even look at my own cut when I'm putting on my own bandaid. One of the few bad things about living on my own is the fact I have to put bandaids on myself.
