i'm talking about one of those odd-ball ppl, someone who's happy most of the time, someone who you can never really get mad at no matter how many times they piss you off, someone who seems strange at first, but then turns out to be a doll. i'm talking about the peter's of the world.
peter is a person who i work with/for. he's an actuary. yes, an actuary....not actually. an actuary is a job, not an adverb or whatever actually is. he's a brilliant man, but scatterbrained as heck sometimes, no one really knows if he's coming or going, up or down, in or out. i just ran into him in the coffee room, and he always puts a smile on my face. he can call me a bitch and get away with it. maybe that's because he always buys me a christmas present and starbucks cards in between. he can call me a nag and all i do is smile and wink back at him. on good-bye cards, wedding cards, or baby shower cards, all he writes is "are you sure?". only the peter's of the world can get away with this. he's been married for umpteen years ("hello, my boo-boo!" is how he greets his wife), they have 4 kids, he coaches hockey, he plays rugby, he does everything and always with a smile on his face.
ah, if we could all be as happy as the peter's of the world.......well, that could be a bit nauseating, and then the peter's wouldn't be as special as they are :)
